Frequently asked questions

Will there be crying?

If we are changing the usual way in which your child falls asleep, then it is almost certain there will be some protest in the form of crying and I am always very open and honest about that. How much depends on the age and temperament of your child. It’s the hardest part about getting sleep support and understandably the thing that families are most worried about- but even the gentlest methods will involve some crying, it is after all how a baby communicates. I wish I had a totally tear free solution, but I don’t -nobody does! However, quite often it is easier than you may fear, and the crying is short lived or not as much as you fear. Rest assured you with be with your child supporting them during the change and I will be supporting you.

Will my child sleep the night during a 2 week plan?

There is a good possibility, and lots of families I have worked with do achieve this BUT it is not a guarantee. There are so many factors involved in the outcome, including age of child and their feeding needs, developmental milestones, illness, teething, your consistency with the plan and how your child responds to the change. All children are different, and the same is true of their sleep.

Can I get a refund?

I do not offer refunds, please read carefully my T&C’s for all queries around payment and cancellations.

Do I need to stay at home all day during a 2 week plan?

Your child needs to be sleeping in the same place every night for the two weeks and ideally at least a week following the 2-week plan. This does not mean you cannot leave the house or do naps on the go- I actively encourage this; but you must prioritise the sleep over a baby class for example, if there is a clash.

What if my child becomes unwell?

In the event of illness we will pause the support and restart once your child is better.

Is it too late for my 2+ year old?

Absolutely not!

Will a 30 minute support call solve overnight sleep?

It depends on the current sleep situation, but in most cases it is unlikely. A 30min call is to target specific areas or give general guidance. It is not cohesive enough to resolve overall sleep if there are multiple night wakings. However, in a case where if your child was previously sleeping the night and things have suddenly changed, quite often some small tweaks in particular to naps will resort in your ‘normal’ being restored.

What methods do you use?

It depends on what your sleep goal is and the temperament of your child, but most commonly I use an approach where you stay in the room supporting your child until they go to sleep. Sometimes I take a more gradual approach where we make changes a little bit at a time if this suits your family, in particular if you are moving away from high contact sleep support such as bed sharing. Sometimes, but least commonly, I use a ‘leave and check’ method but only if you feel your continued presence doesn’t work for your child.

I do not use ‘cry it out’ whereby you shut the door and don’t return.

Do you work with siblings?

Yes, often! Most commonly we would work on the younger child’s sleep first and then move on to the other sibling. Sometimes we can overlap depending on the situation and support available at home. I offer a discount for the second child.

What about twins?

Of course, there is an extra charge of £100 to a 2 week package as support calls will take longer, but we would work on the sleep of both children at the same time.
